Frequently Asked Questions
What can laser cleaning remove?
Laser cleaning removes rust, paint, oxide layers, oil, grease, coatings and weld discolouration from metal surfaces. It is used for pre-weld preparation, mould cleaning, heritage restoration and surface preparation before coating or bonding.
Does laser cleaning damage the base material?
No. The laser parameters are tuned to ablate only the surface contaminant without affecting the substrate underneath. This makes it ideal for precision components, moulds and delicate parts where mechanical or chemical cleaning is too aggressive.
Is laser cleaning more cost-effective than sandblasting?
Over time, yes. Laser cleaning has no consumable media costs (no sand, chemicals or solvents), generates no secondary waste, and requires minimal PPE. The initial equipment cost is higher but operating costs are significantly lower, especially for repetitive cleaning tasks.
